Derry Girls toasts the 90s with Teletext-inspired Instagram Story

Channel 4's Irish 90s comedy, Derry Girls, has channelled Teletext in a nostalgic marketing push marking the show's return.

Following on from the creation of its Derry murals, the series is now aping on Teletext, Ceefax and Fivetext in social media activity harking back to the 90s to publicise the launch of its second season.

The @Channel4 Instagram account, which boasts 172,500 followers, is the lead platform for this activity. A Story will be assembled, spanning everything from the Derry Girls' updates about the weather to ‘spiritual guidance’ from Sister Michael.

Channel 4 has today launched its full marketing campaign for the new series of hit comedy, Derry Girls, produced by 4Creative for Channel 4 Marketing.
Social media activity will include 90’s ‘school pics’ of the cast, and ‘Derrytext’, an @Channel4 Instagram story inspired by services popular in the 90s such as Teletext, Ceefax and Fivetext. Users will enjoy everything from updates about the weather in Derry to ‘spiritual guidance’ from Sister Michael.
