Streaming service Netflix has extended its partnership with US cable giant Comcast.

As part of the deal, Comcast has integrated the Netflix service with the X1 user experience which allows customers to browse and access the entire Netflix service.

Xfinity users can search  with the X1 voice remote, browse by TV series, movie, network, or actor on Xfinity On Demand and on X1 can watch and record sports and TV series.

A recent report by 7Park suggested that despite the buzz around Netflix's popular series like Black Mirror, Jessica Jones and Orange is the New Black, only 20% of users' viewing is made up of originals.

The report further stated that around 80% of US users' prefer watching licensed shows such as Breaking Bad, The Office and Grey's Anatomy rather than original content.

Despite that Netflix continues to dominate the US video streaming sector according to the latest forecast from eMarketer, with total viewers expected to grow by 3.6% this year to reach 132.6 million.

Sam Schwartz, chief business development officer, Comcast Cable said: “Netflix offers one of the most popular on demand services and is an important supplement to the content offering and value proposition of the X1 platform.

“Netflix is a great partner, and we are excited to offer its services to our customers in new ways that provide them with more choice, value and flexibility. The seamless integration of Netflix with the vast Xfinity entertainment library on X1 present a unique and comprehensive experience for customers.”

Bill Holmes, global head of business development for Netflix said: “Our partnership with Comcast on Xfinity X1 has brought easy access to Netflix for our mutual customers.

“By speaking into or browsing with the X1 remote, millions of customers have found the perfect thing to watch on Netflix. We can’t wait to introduce more X1 customers to Netflix with Xfinity’s new packaged offers.”
