The Sunday Times has released its UK Rich List giving insight into the rising (or declining) fortunes of the nation's wealthiest people - there have been a handful of moves in the advertising sector worth keeping tracking of including Sir Martin Sorrell, Jean-Francois Decaux and Charles Saatchi.
Those on the Rich List have since 2017, accumulated 10% more wealth than the previous year. Since 2012, the number of UK billionaires doubled from 77 to 145. Furthermore, only 14% of those in the top were women.
Looking specifically at advertising sector, formerly the UK's highest paid chief executive Sir Martin Sorrell was placed at 285th, down from 258th. His £456m worth was down £39m since last year's list, with his bonuses reduced in his final year at WPP.
Ranking top for the ad industry, Jean-Francois Decaux and family (of JCDecaux) rose by £40m to £710m, placing it 196th from 193rd.
Additionally, Lord and Charles Saatchi came in at 822nd from 786th with a worth of £144m, up £2m on the previous year.
The Sunday Times said that for the first time since the Rich List’s inception, it has been topped by a self-made, British-born industrialist - Jim Ratcliffe of Ineos.
