The Fourth of July falls smack dab in the middle of the workweek this year, meaning workers across America will be forced to trudge into their offices on Thursday next week after a day of revelry and barbecues.

To soften the blow, Smirnoff Ice is paying 100 people to take off July 5 and 6 so they can continue the holiday celebrations into the weekend. The stunt marks the return of the brand’s limited-edition Smirnoff Ice Red, White & Berry.

“Who wants to head back to work and do work things, when you could be on a beach, on a boat or on a mountain celebrating the good ole US of A?," said Krista Kiisk, brand director of Smirnoff Ice, in a statement. ”Smirnoff Ice is a brand that encourages people to have fun, and we believe that America deserves more than 24 hours. That's why we're giving hard-working Americans the chance to extend their holiday to a five day weekend by paying 100 people to take July 5th and 6th off, so they can celebrate the Smirnoff Ice way, with Red, White & Berry.”

For a chance at some of the money up for grabs, Smirnoff Ice is asking people to head over to the brand’s Facebook or Instagram and comment how they'd celebrate a five-day weekend. Each winner will receive $500 regardless of their salary or employment status. The Diageo brand says winners will be selected randomly.
