The third film promoting Kenzo’s La Collection Memento line blends the brushstrokes of Henri Rousseau’s paintings into the gaming graphics of the early 21st century.

Directed by Thomas Traum, the newest film from the French fashion house turns the jungle scenery of Rousseau’s ‘Le Rêve’ into a living, breathing protagonist. Two digital avatars – reminiscent of characters in EA Games’ early versions of The Sims – wear the newest collection and explore the surreal landscape around them.

As the sun sets on the jungle, the duo blends seamlessly into their landscape.

‘Le Rêve’ was the inspiration behind the film and the collection it promotes. Kenzo Takada, the founder of Kenzo, was said to have been overwhelmed by the ‘The tangible spirit and mystery of the painting’ when he first viewed it at the Louvre in Paris more than 50 years ago.

Kenzo’s penchant for art house-style films was thrown into the wider public eye in 2016 when Spike Jonze directed Margaret Qualley dancing as though possessed to advertise the Kenzo World fragrance.

Taylor Swift was accused of ripping off the ad in her music video for ‘Delicate’ earlier this year.
