To celebrate his new partnership with Adidas Outdoor, Scotland's fearless cyclist Danny MacAskill has shot a film that showcases the talent that helped him become a smash hit on YouTube.
For years MacAskill has been showing off his incredible tricks against the backdrop of sublime landscapes. More likely to be found in a small Scottish fishing village, MacAskill works professionally as a street trials rider - which means he uses features found in natural or urban environments as an obstacle course to perform tricks on.
Produced by Red Bull Media House, his 2010 film 'Way Back Home' racked up over 41m views on YouTube.
It followed MacAskill on his journey home to his hometown in the Isle of Skye and showcased locations around Scotland including Edinburgh Castle, North Berwick, wartime bunkers on the island of Inchgarvie underneath the Forth Bridge and the Cruachan Dam in the Scottish Highlands.
'Welcome to the Family' represents a continuation of Cut Media’s long-standing relationship with MacAskill.
Together they took a completely unique and different approach to riding, in 'Imaginate' which was produced with Red Bull. Taking two years to film, it saw him performing stunts in a large-scale children's toy room. It pulled in nearly 90m views - his most popular yet.
Now, to mark his new role as brand ambassador for Adidas, MacAskill has released 'Welcome to the Family' on his YouTube channel.
With the appearance of being self-filmed, the video opens with MacAskill performing tricks on an anchor in the Scottish sun at Dunbar harbour.
Taking advantage of Scotland's beautiful landscape, he then heads to Buachaille Etive Beag near Glen Coe, to cycle down the backbone of the mountain's arête.
Slotted in amongst the daring tricks is moments when things don't go to plan, which give the film an authentic and humorous feel.
On the film, MacAskill said: "The film captures so much about what I love about riding, with the freedom to explore cool locations and push my riding level."
