Asia Pacific Transgender Network has worked with Pakistani model, activist and UN representative Kami Sid, social worker Neeli Rana, motivational speaker Mani AQ and a professional model and engineering student Irha Parishe to battle transphobia.

The network collaborated with BBDO and Proximity Pakistan in its latest campaign to raise awareness about the hardships faced by transgender people in Pakistan by urging people to change the clap.

The video for the campaign, #ChangeTheClap, shows the adversities and disrespect transgender people face in the community and encourages people to do away with transphobia and advocates equal opportunities for transgenders.

In the subcontinent area, transgenders have a distinct clap that is horizontal flat palms striking against and perpendicular to each other, with fingers spread as opposed to the common applause-style, vertical palm and closed fingers strike. However, this clap is mimicked by many to ridicule the transgenders.

A change in the clap asks people to #ChangeTheClap from one of ridicule to one of applause, respect and inclusion.
